Basically I want to be fit and healthy enough to enjoy my life to the fullest, but I know it is important to break it down and I really need to be more specific, so here are some things I’m shooting for. Goals in bold red are the ones I’m currently actively working on.
Major Body Weight Goals
- Goal #1 - 175lbs (Where I was at the end of my field season) Acheived 19 July 2008
- Goal #2 - 169lbs (I haven’t been in the 60s in around 7 years) Go HERE to see how I’m doing
- Goal #3 - 158lbs (This gets my BMI just below “obese”)
- Goal #4 - 132lbs (This gets my BMI just into “normal”)
- Goal #5 - 125lbs (I vaguely recall feeling good at this weight - ages ago)
- Goal #6 - 120lbs (Ultimately I think somewhere between 120 and 110 will be “it” for me)
I haven’t picked out any rewards for myself yet. I think getting that 5 pound badge will be pretty nice! I am also saving up some cash from my extra work for an Ipod nano. I want the Ipod for working out so my instinct is to put it up there sooner (after 169lbs maybe since that will really be breaking a 7 year boundary for me) rather than later but it is a pretty big reward so maybe I should go for 158lbs. I’ll think on that.
Update: I’ve got a 10 pound badge NOW and wow is that cool. I also got the Ipod since I love my music when I work out. For the most part now I’m intent on making little cheap luxuries more of a part of my daily life. Losing weight and feeling better seems to be its own reward. I can’t wait to get to the point where I will need a new wardrobe. I’m thinking that by Feb of 2009 I will need to do some serious shopping.
Major Fitness Goals
- Complete my C25K training program Completed 22 June 2008
- Complete a half-marathon - I’m thinking either June 2009 or September 2009 for this one!
- Learn to snatch a Kettlebell
- Learn to squat
- Stay “on plan” for a week in terms of fitness Achieved 28 April 2008
- Stay “on plan” for a month in terms of fitness Achieved 21 May 2008
Non-Scale Victories I’m Shooting For
- Be able to walk home from work with feeling like I’m going to die (I need to climb a massive 1.5k hill that goes up about 300m at the end of my 3.5k walk home) It isn’t easy yet but as of 27 July 2008 I can do it 5 times a week without too much trouble
- A week free of knee pain (I’m pretty sure most of this is caused by being too heavy) I noticed this as achieved on 27 July 208
- Cleaning out the last of my “fat clothes” because they don’t fit any more
- Fitting into a size 10 (I started at a 20 and I’m around 16 now)
- Wearing shorts and a short sleeve shirt on a summer day
- Buying a swim suit
- Fit into my wedding ring again

[...] Long Term Goals [...]
These are great goals! They are so inspiring. Especially when you post them for everyone to see and then mark them off as you complete them. I’m a list person so I know how gratifying that can be!
Congrats on all your amazing progress!!!
